During Post Production there are many things to do, Such as creating an EDL (edit decision list) which comes in two different views, many would bunch together the footage and lay it out in a separate bin so they which footage to use for example:

new york footage

And may also use coloured labels to create an easier choice.

To edit a MPEG file you would need to convert it to either an MP4 or rather a quick time as many MPEG formats during editing wont work to the best of its standards, some people say mpegs come out “wiggly”

Many productions still use a digital workflow for it being easier.

There are two ways of doing post-production. One is the old way, the film way. Shoot film and edit or splice film on film editing equipment. There are few filmmakers who edit this way today.

If there was no Post, Pre and Production the editing process would be a mess and most finished edits wouldn’t even make sense, an EDL would look abit like this:

On Premier pro the editing timeline would look abit like this depending on the style you have chosen.
